"… stop and prosecute Mr. Kennedy Agyepong for instigating and threatening to cause harm to Ahmed Hussein-Suale," they added.

The legislator had shared footage of the reporter on his television network, NET 2, and said that if the journalist came to the premises, he should be badaulted because he is a bad boy.

The heinous and horrible badbadination of Ahmed Hussein –Suale It is a major failure of the state that appears to murder judges in 1982. Ahmed was shot three times, twice in the chest and once in the neck by gunmen with a motorcycle late at night from Wednesday, January 16, 2019 to Madina in Accra. while driving home.

Ahmed was one of Tiger Eye PI's reporters, whose photos had been distributed by Assin Central MP, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, during his stint on NET 2 television, before the screening of the documentary anti-Anas.

Irresponsible Citizenship

In a broadcast on Net 2 TV belonging to the deputy, he invited the public to attack Ahmed and he, Kennedy Agyepong, will bear the financial consequences.

OneGhana Movement is of the view that by revealing the identity of the anti-corruption journalist, Kennedy Agyepong, the life of Ahmed Hussein has been endangered imminently.Suale. Although he may have exercised his right, Mr. Agyepong's position as a Member of Parliament, the public and the constitutional expectations of this office require that he be more circumspect in his public statements. As the Bible says, "everything is allowed but everything is not constructive".

All members of the public who also circulated the photo of Ahmed Hussein –Suale and other photos supposed to be Anas on social media without seeing the danger badociated with it have also contributed to endanger the lives of undercover investigators. This represents an irresponsible use of social media and an affront to good citizenship.

Mr. Agyepong's appeal to the public to attack Ahmed for a reward is hateful and irresponsible of a Ghanaian and even more so, of a member of Parliament who should be an example and a beacon of legality and justice. responsible citizenship.

Public Policy Responsibility and Party Policy Over the National Interest

The incitement to harm against Mr. Ahmed by Mr. Agyepong was not secret but public and known to the Ghanaian police and security agencies. This was a flagrant violation of Article 74 of the Criminal Offenses and Other Offenses Act (Law 29), which makes the threat of harm a criminal offense. The inability of the police to arrest Mr. Agyepong and bring him to prison is a betrayal of the trust the state has placed in it. The Ghanaian police failed in their duty of care to Ahmed Hussein.Suale and the people of Ghana.

Needless to say, the failures of the Ghanaian police reflect the priority given to party politics over the national interest. It is questionable whether the PGI would stay out if a non-ruling party, a big bourgeois or a commoner, incited people to badault or ask the president a reward. We are all Ghanaians and the creeds of fairness, equality and the rule of law should not remain empty platitudes.

In this regard, the OneGhana movement takes this opportunity to reiterate the call by many to the police to get rid of all political influences and manipulations, real or perceived, and take bold and decisive action against all suspected criminals. The impression of impunity can provoke retaliation by other interested parties and, ultimately, lead to violence and the destruction of the fabric of the state.

Silencing journalists

Those who commit the heinous crime of badbadination of brave journalists and undercover investigators know that silencing journalists, is to silence the voices of all those who speak through the media or who might be tempted to talk in the future.

Courageous journalists are often among the few forces defending democracy, denouncing corruption, attacking powerful people in society or at least offering control over their power.

Courageous journalists are the last hope citizens turn to when the justice system, like the police and the courts, fails them.

People rely on brave journalists and undercover investigators when political institutions fail to inform them of what is really happening.

Our call

  1. We call on the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, of the National Investigation Bureau (BNI), to urgently make the perpetrators, other journalists and undercover investigators remain badbadination targets for corrupt people and their agents.
  2. Stop and prosecute Mr. Kennedy Agyepong for instigating and threatening to cause harm to Ahmed Hussein –Suale.
  3. Bring to the reservation all police and security officers whose commission and omission contributed to the death of Ahmed Hussein.Suale and the lack of action against the threats of Mr. Agyepong.
  4. We further request the IGP to urgently demonstrate leadership and inform Ghanaians of the state of recent murder investigations and safeguards to enhance security for all. and to go from the front.

OneGhana deeply regrets the recent killings and apparent lawlessness and calls for immediate action and resolution by the government in this regard. The imperatives of human security in democracies can not be overstated and we hope that the government will manifest the urgent need to restore the sense of security in the capital.
