Samuel Atta Akyea is the only former Minister of Public Works and Housing to have consulted with Enoch Teye Mensah, member of the Greater Accra State Council and former sector minister, since the latter stepped down in 2012.
The former minister commonly known as ET Mensah was speaking on the August 5, 2021 edition of Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana as he continued to clarify his role in the Saglemi Housing project which is currently the subject of ‘litigation.
ET Mensah told Paul Adom-Otchere that he also saw no need to give advice to people who had not come to ask for his help on any issue.
“I was available to be consulted to explain anything that he (Collins Dauda) probably did not understand, but when I left this ministry, of the four ministers who succeeded me, the only person who had the he humility to come and consult me was Atta Akyea.
“That was the person, anytime he needed an explanation, he came to me. I don’t need to walk into anyone’s office and tell you… somewhere that you are. left it, do this, do that, unless the person consults with you.
“And each time he consulted, I accompanied him, I gave him all the information, the figures that had to be monitored…”, he added.
He revealed that the contract amount of $ 200 million was for the entire project, from the drawings to the handover of the project.
ET Mensah pointed out that everything successive minister Collins Dauda needed on the project and other critical issues within the ministry was contained in a 68-page delivery note which was exchanged when the latter told him. took over.
Collins Dauda, outgoing Asutifi North MP, is accused of causing financial losses to the state along with four other people for their management of the Saglemi Housing project. A high court in Accra granted them bail after their first appearance on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
