OnlyFans pushes SFW app to iOS and Android as it tries to shake up the image of adults

OnlyFans is a juggernaut of NSFW content, but its abundance of nudity has kept the platform from launching as an app on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Now, however, the company has a new app available on iOS and Android called OFTV. It features a lot of regular OnlyFans creators, but the content is strictly safe for work.

The app has been in development for some time and launched in January, but OnlyFans is only promoting it now, according to a report from Bloomberg. It’s part of the company’s attempt to move beyond adult content and position itself as a neutral platform like Patreon, allowing artists, musicians and creators to monetize their relationships with fans.

“OFTV offers fans a very convenient way to watch content from their favorite creators,” said Tim Stokely, CEO of OnlyFans. Bloomberg. “There is no adult content on OFTV. Because it is not monetized and there is no direct impact on creator revenue, we can be in the App Store.

Bloomberg notes that the app contains over 800 videos, with a flagship series – “Unlocked” – featuring interviews from such figures as media personality and former pornographic actress Mia Khalifa, and actress and director Bella Thorne. Other content in the app includes dance, cooking, meditation and surfing lessons, as well as various vlogs and podcast video recordings.

While the OnlyFans brand is currently inseparable from its reputation for adult content, it is undoubtedly a huge presence in the online space. It has over a million creators and, as of last December, some 85 million users generating $ 2 billion in annual sales (of which OnlyFans is reduced by 20%, which is roughly $ 400 million).

Stokely tells Bloomberg that the company does not currently plan to charge for access to OFTV or to place advertising on its content.
