The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Judge Walter Onnoghen, has pleaded not guilty to the six charges brought against him by the federal government.
Zimbabwe says it will not extradite Grace Mugabe
Onnoghen, who rode on the platform at 10:15 am, also persuaded the court headed by Mr. Danladi Umar to cancel the arrest warrant issued against him on Wednesday.
FG, accused of CCT / 01/2019, allegedly alleged that Onnoghen, who was suspended from his post on 25 January by President Muhammadu Buhari, did not declare his badets as provided by law.
He was accused of operating bank accounts abroad since 2011, in violation of Section 15 (2) of the Code of Ethics Office Act and the court.
Onnoghen had four times refused to appear in court, which he said did not have the jurisdiction to hear the charges against him.
As a result, the court ordered the main security agencies in the country to arrest Onnoghen and bring him to justice.
The court specifically ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to execute the arrest warrant.
However, the order was not executed because the suspended NCJ voluntarily appeared in court to register his plea with the charge leader.
Shortly after his indictment, Onnoghen 's lawyer, SAN Chief Chris Uche, asked that his client be released on bail.
The request was therefore welcomed by the TCC Chair.
