Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, Acting Inspector General of Police, said he expects a positive change of attitude from the police in his interactions with his colleagues, the young officers and the big one. public.

He also instructed Ghana's police commanders to implement operational strategies aimed at reducing violent crime in the country, particularly in Accra and Tema.

According to a statement signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police David Eklu, Director General of Public Affairs, the Interim IGP announced it at its first meeting with more than 200 senior police officers working in Accra and in Tema at the headquarters of the national police on July 25, 2019.

"He also instructed the officers to conduct operations that would eliminate fear of crime among residents of their operational jurisdictions," the statement said.

"He also asked commanders to include community commitments in their operations to build public confidence in the police, which is essential for effective policing."

Mr. Oppong-Boanuh was appointed interim IGP on Monday, July 22 by President Akufo-Addo.

It will act as an IGP until a substantive IGP is appointed in accordance with the Constitution, said a statement signed by Eugene Arhin, said the director of communications of the presidency.

His appointment follows a directive by President Akufo-Addo at the PGI, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, to go on leave, pending his retirement on August 14, 2019.
