If you have confirmed a Tesla Model 3, Model S or Model X order before February 1st, but have forgotten or neglected to provide a return code for 6 to 9 months of free boost, do not worry – you can always make!

Our own Paul Fosse spent some time exploring the intricacies of Tesla's referral program, including how to get the referral code added after the order. While it's not as simple as simply entering the Supercharging discount code on the order page, it's not that difficult to enforce afterwards.

The key, of course, is that you must have ordered your vehicle (or Tesla Powerwall or solar roof) before February 2. In addition, if you have already taken delivery, my understanding is that your ability to get the referral bonus has expired. Sorry.

However, if you have completed your order before February 1st, if the delivery has not yet occurred (as many buyers of models 3, S models and X models in Europe), you are Now ready to apply a referral code (mine is tomasz7234 if you wish.to use it), here are the simple steps:

  1. Send an email to reference [email protected] (or [email protected] if you are in Europe) with the word "Reference"In the subject line.
  2. Put your first name, Contact information, booking number (starts with RN), and the Referral Code you want to use (for example, tomasz7234 if you use mine) in the body of the e-mail.
  3. Hit send.

Tesla may not give you an answer, but even then it should be applied. (No need to try again.)

That being done, with your first Tesla en route, you may be wondering about all sorts of things. How will it really work – charging, city driving, road trips, autopilot, touch screen, etc.? So, below, I will introduce some of our strengths and lessons to be learned from owning a Tesla Model S in Europe.

First of all, if you do not have a charge at home, do not stress! Just know where the charging stations are in your area and especially identify some of the most common destinations (grocery store, shopping center, park, beach, etc.). Of course, with a Tesla, you may also have a super convenient charge nearby. However, a regular super fast refill is not ideal and is not really necessary if you charge your destination. (In Florida, we manage perfectly and conveniently with a 71 mile BMW i3 2015 without home recharge.)

Road traffic are often easier, more comfortable and more relaxing than car trips with any other type of vehicle, IMHO. I drove with a friend from Poland to Paris (and to the back) a Model S and honestly, I think the trip in Model S was twice as enjoyable as in a Mercedes, a BMW or an Audi. (Well, the rear mbadager in a top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz could have made it a tight competition.) There are several reasons why it's so nice to take a car trip in a Tesla:

  1. the navigation system is bright. You have seriously put your destination – even if it is across the continent – and follow the instructions of the car.
  2. If you have autopilot, it makes driving on highway about 3 × more pleasant.
  3. The smooth electric powertrain reduces fatigue. It's peaceful.
  4. In fact, you should stop every two hours during a car trip. Many people (like me) think they would be better off driving and driving for 3 to 4 hours (or more). However, it is not really ideal. Forced to stop every two hours or so in the Tesla, I am convinced that I felt much better than if I had pushed through in a gasmobile.
  5. The power. The power, baby.

If your touch screen freezes or do something strange, do not panic. The car will always drive well. To reset the screen in an S model or X model (I'm not sure of a model 3), just click and hold the two scroll bars on the steering wheel. If you hold them down for about 5 seconds, the touch screen will be reset and the problem should be solved. (I once had a problem with spoken navigation that was stuck in the middle of directions like an old CD.)

Also, when the screen restarts, do not panic! You 'll hear it close and may panic thinking that the car is stopping when it' s not the case. In fact, even after doing this many times, it sometimes made me panic viscerally. (I had to do it several times because we had an underground car park in a garage that would cut off the Internet signal.Without the Internet signal, Spotify would not work and the navigation would not work. This would usually take a lot of time to recover the internet signal if I just waited, so I often had to restart the touch screen.)

Tesla vehicles are wide. Really, they are. Just be careful. And get rim protectors. And always try to imagine that the car has approximately a longer hand length on each side than you think.

Get ready to talk. If you are in California or Norway, I do not think anyone will bother you. Otherwise, there is a good chance your new Tesla will attract a lot of attention and questions. You would sometimes be surprised to know who is interested in your Tesla. Prepare your talking points and perhaps have a method to keep them cool so you do not get bored. You can show Easter eggs (a fan favorite), acceleration, optimal safety ratings, great navigation system, autopilot, frunk, smooth music player, reach (the first or the second thing that most people will ask you about), how easy and convenient it is to recharge, zero emissions and a life without gasoline, regenerative braking, flight updates, remarkable car efficiency, etc. Honestly, I recommend a method to keep these discussions fresh for you, as they can get a little old after more than 100 discussions.

Of course, you can also share these 30 nasty Tesla sales charts to explain how competitive 3, S, and X models are.

Consider adding your car to our Tesla shuttle network if you want to occasionally bring hundreds of people on city-to-city journeys, and / or add it to Turo, Lyft or Uber if these options allow you to. . suits you.

If you encounter a service problem, consult your Tesla service options in advance. You can bring your Tesla to the service center that delivers your car, but you can also hire a Tesla Ranger to repair your vehicle at home or at work. Of course, you can call Tesla about service issues, but you can also now contact Tesla for certain things via the app or the navigation system.

The Tesla appBy the way, it is wonderful and fun. The things you can do with the application that I have often found useful include:

  • pre-cooling or preheating the car
  • lock and unlock the car
  • check the state of charge
  • open the trunk or chest
  • honking or blinking the lights (especially fun to do while someone else is in the car or walking next to it)

You can also invoke it and can now walk on, but honestly, I was too nervous to even try the basic summoning option. ?

Finally, you can use the app to activate the model with valet or speed limit mode to limit the tasks that another driver can do while driving your car to the garage or elsewhere.

If you have a friend to marryConsider offering your Tesla as a wedding car. In my humble opinion, nothing else compares. The clean, high-tech and luxurious ride in a Tesla is perfect for a wedding day. You can even use the drawing application on the touch screen to draw a heart, write a message or surprise the happy couple in another way.

I'm sure I'm missing some more interesting and useful tips and tricks. Maybe other Tesla owners will be able to talk about it with their own thoughts, lessons or things they prefer to do with a Tesla.
