Jurgen Klopp named Divock Origi in his starting lineup for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final in Liverpool against Porto, with Roberto Firmino fall on the bench. This is the first start of Origi in the competition since he's joined the club and his fifth of the season in all competitions, Klopp having chosen to let the first-choice striker Firmino rest while the Reds led 2-0 against Estadio do Dragao.
Elsewhere in the team, James Milner starts alongside Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum in midfield, with Jordan Henderson among the substitutes, and Joel Matip retains his place alongside Virgil van Dijk at the defense center. Klopp told BT Sport that the decision to include Origi was not due to concerns about the fitness of Firmino, saying, "No problem, in fact – I'm just respecting the fantastic form that Divock Origi already has for weeks or even months, and bringing in new legs.
"That's all, the same thing we do in midfield because we are waiting for a very intense match, we are expecting a very strong Porto team. We must be ready for that. Of course, Bobby is ready for that, but since he never rests, we must do it from time to time. But it's not a rest in fact, that brings Div and have this option: speed and all the rest. That's what we thought. "
Porto boss Sergio Conceicao has reinstated the attacker Yacine Brahimi, who left the bench at Anfield last week to join his starting team although the Algerian international did not find the net in eight appearances in the Champions League this season.
