Orlu military invasion: Governor Uzodinma, others will pay heavily – Ohanaeze

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, on Saturday expressed outrage at the ongoing military operation in Orlu in Imo State.

DAILY POST reports that in recent days, Nigerian army troops have allegedly stormed Orlu, scouring the bushes and forests in search of members of the Eastern Security Network, a branch of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB. They reportedly shelled some places during the process.

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, was also out to say that he had authorized the military operation. -uzodinma /

He said the government discovered that the IPOB had deliberately attempted to attack the Orlu and the government on the pretext that they were looking for Fulani shepherds.

“This is why our government decided to invite the military to flush out IPOB and their so-called ESN. We found out that there was a camp that IPOB established in Umutanze, Orlu and we sent the police to dislodge them, ”said the governor.

Reacting, the OYC in a statement issued by its general chairman, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, warned that the life of any wasted Igbo man would have dire consequences.

He said it was sad that the military and other security personnel are also using Igboland as a proving ground when they are unable to tackle the major security challenges facing them in other parts of the country.

Okwu said, “Our hearts bleed once again at the news of the chaos in Orlu Imo State. It is quite sad that a sitting governor brags about being the mastermind behind such an orgy of violence and needle attacks against his people.

“It is utterly deplorable that while the federal government and its agents were busy negotiating with terrorists in the North, the same government is busy here cracking down on the people who demand freedom, an obvious case of a different coup for different persons.

“It is also ironic that the same soldiers who were helpless in the face of endless terrorist attacks in the North, only find their teeth when they come to the Southeast.

“Dozens of students have been kidnapped from their schools in Niger State and we have yet to see military helicopters hovering around the bandit camps, rather Sheikh Gunmi and his ilk are there seducing the terrorists on behalf of the federal government.

“Either way, Governor Hope Uzodinma and anyone else involved in this chaos must know that they will not go to freedom. No matter how long it takes, they would account for every soul slain by these bloodthirsty security men.

He urged the governors of the Southeast and other Igbo leaders not to be silent in the face of what he called “a deliberate ploy to provoke Ndigbo into action which would require another genocide.”

“If we maintain mutual silence today because it’s Orlu, when they are done with them, they will move to another part of Igbo country.
