The Ospreys will be forced to move their Boxing Day derby game against the Scarlets because Swansea City are planning to relay the field from Liberty Stadium.
The Ospreys have yet to confirm where the Pro14 game will be behind closed doors.
Switching from gambling to Parc y Scarlets is the most likely outcome.
“We appreciate the urgency to address the Liberty Stadium pitch problem,” said Ospreys general manager Andrew Millward.
“The Ospreys and Swansea City have always had a close relationship. While the Ospreys are disappointed that they cannot play our Boxing Day game at home, we appreciate that this is a unique situation for Swansea City and recognize that relaying the terrain is something that has to happen now. “
Swansea city will start laying the new surface right after the Championship game against Barnsley on December 19th and hopefully he’s ready for the Championship game against Reading 11 days later.
Ospreys remain in negotiations with Scarlets and Pro14 regarding the change of location.
The region has already played league games in Bridgend, Neath and Swansea for the past two years, when Liberty Stadium was unavailable.
Toby Booth’s team are currently training at St Helen’s in Swansea and welcomed Benetton in a 24-22 victory there in November.
