The Minister of Information refuted claims that Power Distribution Services (PDS) Ghana Limited would belong to a group of barbers located in Osu in Accra.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Thursday challenged those interested in finding the truth to check with the Registrar Generals' department.
He added that the electricity distribution company was a duly registered company and that the claims of the barbers owning it are ridiculous.
The government has opened an in-depth investigation into the breaches found in the Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession agreement, which is expected to be completed within 30 days.
The government has suspended the concession agreement with PDS, bringing ECG back to full control over the distribution of electricity.
The decision was taken after the government found fundamental and substantial breaches of the PDS obligation to provide payment guarantees (demand guarantees) for the transaction, which was highlighted following a thorough audit.
Many people, including minority experts in Parliament and Energy, have called for an investigation into why the government missed this critical aspect when signing the deal.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, who participated in the investigation, said that experts in insurance investigations, officials of the Ministries of Energy and Finance and officials of the Electricity Company Ghana (ECG), as well as the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA), were involved.
"The investigation will determine the nature of the offenses and indicate the next steps suggested. On Tuesday, the team is expected to DOHA-Qatar as part of the investigation.
"All interested parties are cooperating with the investigation at this stage," said the information minister at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, August 1.
