President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sworn in last Tuesday the last group of ministers from newly created regions.

They are Kwasi Owusu Yeboah for the Oti region and Ama Kumi Richardson for the Bono region.

During a short ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra, where the president handed them their ministerial instruments, he commended both for their appointment.

He told them that they had been carefully chosen because they had proven themselves in the public service and that they were well prepared for their pioneering role in the governance of the country.

President Akufo-Addo reminded them of the enormity of the role that was imposed on them to bring the government closer to the people and said, "I am very confident that you would perform your duties with credit."

For the regional minister of Oti, the president said that he should make himself available and accessible to the people in order to prove the very purpose of the region's creation exercise aimed at to bring governance closer to governance.

He told the minister that "as a pioneering minister of a new region," you have a lot of work to do to lay the foundation for a strong regional administration ".

The president also urged Minister Bono, whose appointment to the ministerial had sparked controversy during her hearing in Parliament, to leave the episode behind her and work hard to shame those who 's opposed to his candidacy.

The choice of Mrs. Richardson who, until her appointment, was Sunyani 's Executive Director, was questioned by Parliament' s Appointments Committee about her diplomas and her trips abroad as an MCE.

Parliament last week approved his candidacy by secret ballot, with the candidate garnering 124 votes out of 210.

"You have a strong vote of approval, stick to it and shame those who oppose your appointment.

"Work hard to justify your trust," President Akufo-Addo told Richardson.

The President said that he was looking forward to working with the ministers to fulfill the mandate that the Ghanaian people had entrusted to his government.

Mr. Yeboah thanked the President for the appointment of his members and for the trust placed in them and badured them that they would work to enable him to realize his vision of the country.
