P Smart Z: Huawei's first full-screen smartphone with pop-up camera

Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo: Competition has been around for a long time, but the world's second-largest smartphone manufacturer is also catching up: Huawei is launching its first device with no "notch" and no border, but with a foldable font camera on the market. The Huawei P Smart Z is not only designed to impress with an almost borderless screen, it also offers many other attractive features.

Technically, the Huawei P Smart Z obviously corresponds to the current mid-range manufacturer's standard: after Mobielkopen (Netherlands) (photo via Evan pale), the device is based on a SoC Kirin 710 Octacore, which reaches up to 2.3 gigahertz. It combines four gigabytes of memory and 64 or 128 GB of internal flash memory. In addition, the display takes place in the usual 19.5: 9 format of Huawei and displays a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels compared to various other devices from the Chinese manufacturer.

The peculiarity is simply that Huawei has designed the screen without even the high-end models of the usual P30 series "Notch" and no hole for the camera. Instead, the Huawei P Smart Z has very narrow edges on three sides, while a narrow chin remains on the bottom. Instead, the font camera is connected to an expandable module, which emerges from the top frame section as needed. Such a design is a complete novelty, at least for Huawei. At 6.59 inches, the screen also displays a fairly large size.

The front camera offers a resolution of 16 megapixels and an aperture F / 2.0 a useful image quality but probably not exceptional. There are also two main cameras installed in the usual place at the back. Again, a 16-megapixel sensor with an F / 1.8 aperture is installed, while including a 2-megapixel camera for depth effects is used.

Among the other features include not only the mandatory Android 9.0 "Pie" with the clean surface of Huawei EMUI 9, but also a huge battery of 4000 mAh which, combined with the economic processor, will probably allow very decent execution times. It is powered by the USB-C port. At 197 grams, the Huawei P Smart Z is anything but easy. Above all, the price has impressed: for 200 euros, the device should already be available.
