SOUTH PARK – Authorities say a church administrator from western Pennsylvania stole $ 1.2 million that he had used with his wife to pay for holidays, sports tickets and other personal expenses.

The Allegheny County Attorney's Office stated that 50-year-old David Reiter of South Park was charged with theft, forgery and concealment of stolen property. His wife, 44, Connie Reiter, faces two counts of concealing stolen property.

Authorities said the money had been stolen from the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair for about 17 years.

David Reiter had been a church administrator since 2001. According to the authorities, he allegedly falsified accounting data and created a false listener who, he said, had taken care of the church's examinations.

The couple appeared for the first time in court on Tuesday but did not make a plea. We do not know if they retained the services of lawyers.
