Pacific oysters recalled due to threat of paralytic shellfish poisoning

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has announced the recall of some Pacific oysters because of a marine biotoxin causing poisoning by shellfish.

Oysters were processed by Union Bay Seafood Ltd. and Intercity Packers Ltd. whose harvest date is July 14, 2019.

They were sold in five dozen in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

Consumers who bought the oysters should either return them or discard them.

No case of illness has been badociated with the product, however, in severe situations, paralytic shellfish poisoning can lead to difficulties with walking, muscle paralysis, respiratory paralysis and even death.
