Kafui Augusta Takyi, candidate for parliament
Kafui Augusta Takyi, parliamentary aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Volta region, said she plans to stay in the running. YEN.com.gh understands that Takyi, who is running for the Afajato South riding in the area, suffered partial paralysis shortly after announcing his offer.
She has, however, declared her intention to run in the 2020 elections despite her current state of health. "I can understand my supporters who said that I got sick after submitting my applications. That's because the next time they've seen me [after declaring my intention]I was paralyzed but I got sick sooner after declaring my interest in running for it again, "Takyi said. According to a report from Citinewsroom.com, she added that the doctors are doing their best to help her and that she is again convinced that God will cure her, so she challenges and wins the siege.
Takyi went on to say that she is the number one on the ballot and that even the wheelchair in which she currently stands would not limit her. She added that the number of NDC votes in her constituency had been reduced from 23,000 to about 19,000 in the 2016 election, reflecting the poor leadership of the outgoing MP.
For this reason, she added, someone must restore the confidence of the population in the party. Takyi is the only out of five contestants who contested the primaries of the South Afajato Parliament in previous elections in a previous election against incumbent, Angela Alorwu-Tay. is still in the running for the next primaries on August 24, 2019. Meanwhile, Angela Alorwu-Tay has called on Ghanaians to pray for her competitor.
Other news, former President John Dramani Mahama described the 2020 elections as the most crucial for the (NDC). He thinks the 2020 polls will determine the future of CND and Ghana. Mahama was addressing some NDC election directors in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
