It was a normal evening in 2005 when 6 month pregnant Sheila Mkenya sat in the living room waiting for her stay-at-home daughter to bring the family supper to the dining table.

At one point, she felt like the meal was taking longer than it should, so curiosity led her to walk over to the kitchen and investigate.

“I found her red-handed while adding her urine to the mbuzi fry. I threw up so much that night, I had a fever, stomach pain and a panic attack. My husband also developed a runny stomach, ”Sheila said.

When confronted with why she mixed her food with her urine, the young girl confessed that her mother advised her to keep doing it in order to “protect” her work.

Apparently, adding her urine to the employer’s food would have blinded the family by loving her as an employee, especially the children since she was employed to care for them.

What bothered Sheila even more was that she had always taken care of the girl like her own daughter, including taking her to the movies and on vacation.

“I helped her with the household chores, it was just that my pregnancy was difficult so she took over. She always ate with us at the table and I dressed her like a sister. The fridge and the grocery store were always available 24 hours a day, ”explained Sheila.

In the long run, however reckless the housemaid may be in her duties, the employer would miss the mistakes and continue to tolerate her for years to come.

“I threw up for weeks just thinking about it. It got worse when I remembered that I had had bouts of stomach ache and horrible nausea the week before, so I concluded that it was his pee that I had ingested during this entire period, “said Sheila.

Perhaps the biggest irony of the whole storyline is that the same charm meant to protect her work became the reason she lost it.

The experience changed Sheila a lot. Although the mother of two has been unable to do without a housekeeper since, she has become paranoid and only lets her employee do the bare minimum around the house.

“I’m so paranoid these days. I cook all the meals at my house and if I’m held back and she cooks, we don’t eat it. I can’t even ask her to bring me a piece of cutlery because my spirit is worried that she will lace it up with saliva before bringing it in. It’s traumatic, ”she added.

The search for a wife for her missing father has a surprising but happy ending

What bothers Sheila even more is the fact that even after sending the lady to pack her bags due to the incident, she had the courage to call back a year later to apply for a job.

There is no scientific evidence for a relationship between urine and loved one, which makes it a myth on all fronts.

As a parent who has employed a housewife to take care of your family while you work to make ends meet, it is advisable to install CCTV cameras and monitor what happens while you are away.

If you have a poorly performing nanny that you can’t seem to let go, it might be time to find out how many liters your family has ingested now.
