Parents of a final year student at Oppong Memorial High School in Kokofu want the police to quickly convict their son’s killers.
Richard Appiah, a 19-year-old visual arts student, was stabbed in the lower abdomen by a young man from Kokofu, following a clash with the deceased and his friends on Saturday evening.
Mother of the deceased, Florence Boahemaa wants the police to speed up investigations to help the family.
His call follows a police hunt for a gang suspected of being involved in the stabbing incident.
The final year student along with four other people snuck off campus Saturday night to Kokofu town while all the students were asleep.
Police said the attack on the deceased and his friends, known to have sneaked off campus, was based on an earlier incident.
Bekwai District Police Commander DSP Damptey-Brown told Joynews the latest incident was sparked by the young opponent grabbing the iPhone of one of the deceased’s friends.
“I have informed informants to help us arrest the culprits,” said DSP Damptey-Brown.
Supporters, including teachers of the late Richard, visited the Adwumam family home to mourn with the family.
Richard’s father, Kwabena Appiah, is a school security guard.
He always watches over his son whenever he is on duty at school.
Unfortunately for him, he was on leave Saturday night after swapping his schedule with a friend when Richard, his third child, snuck out of school.
He is devastated.

“My son is not a bad boy. He was influenced by peer pressure. His friends at school influenced him, ”he said in twi.
Meanwhile, his wife, Florence Boahemaa, calls for rapid police investigations into the case.
