The Sri Lankan Parliament yesterday voted an extension of the state of emergency in force since the attacks on Easter Sunday.
A vote took place after the main Tamil party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) called him.
Twenty-two Sri Lankan parliamentarians voted in favor, while eight TNA deputies voted against.
On May 22, the President issued an extraordinary gazette extending the state of emergency.
Emergency regulations, which grant additional powers to state security forces, were used to carry out extensive search operations, detentions and arrests.
In the aftermath of the attacks, Sinhala groups attacked Muslim homes, businesses and mosques, killing one man and wounding hundreds of people.
A number of videos appeared showing Buddhist monks and Sri Lankan soldiers in collusion with the crowds and taking part in the riots.
The army said it had opened a special investigation into an incident in Thunmodara, where a soldier was accused of standing by the crowd as crowds attacked Muslim property.
"If the investigation confirms that the person in question is a member of the army, the army will take all the necessary disciplinary action against him," the army said.
A video published by Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka yesterday shows military and police not only waiting, but also actively joining the Sinhalese riots.
"The video recording of the mosque shows an army soldier apparently calling the crowd to the scene with a hand signal around 6:45 pm In less than a minute later, at least three police officers and five soldiers are visible among the crowd who started windows with stones, "said JDS, publishing the video.
