Parliament has approved a 10 million euro supplier agreement for the import of some 520 tractors to facilitate the mechanization of agriculture.
Joseph Opoku Gakpo, of Joy News, reported Wednesday that the minority in the House had raised concerns about the affordability of tractors.
The minority, he said fears that despite the expected subsidy on tractors, the ordinary farmer is not able to buy it.
Despite their concerns, the House approved the agreement, the reporter told The Pulse on Joy News TV.
What did the Akuffo-Addo administration in the agricultural sector?
Prior to her election, Nana Akufo-Addo made various promises to farmers, the most important of which is the "Planter for Food and Employment Program" (PFJ).
The policy was to provide farmers and potential farmers with seeds and fertilizer at subsidized prices.
In 2018, the Minister of Agriculture, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, said the program had created more than 700,000 jobs.
Opposition parties, including the NDC and some civil society groups, have challenged the government on the number and plausibility of the government.
However, the government has announced that the PFJ has been so successful that it would have the effect of "Livestock for Food and Employment" in 2019.
In December 2018, the National Best Farmer also won 480,000 GH ¢.
