JoyNews obtained a copy of the letter from the Speaker of the Parliament addressed to a judge of the Supreme Court, baderting the immunity of the member for Bawku Central being the subject of criminal proceedings.

This includes a seven-page decision of Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye justifying Parliamentary immunity.

Mahama Ayariga is the subject of criminal prosecution as a result of an allegation of tax evasion against her from the Special Prosecutor's Office.

He initially refused invitations to the courts claiming his immunity as a parliamentarian.

As a result, he was not in court when his case was called Tuesday morning.

Judge Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, annoyed by the conduct of the MP, ordered the MP's lawyers to present it no later than 1 pm on the same day.

Mahama Ayariga, who was sitting in Parliament at the time of the hearing, took the opportunity to request the President's ruling on the matter.
