Brazilian police arrested a parrot Tuesday after allegedly warning its owners against a possible drug raid. The owners of the bird were alleged drug traffickers.

The bird would have warned the suspects of the looming attack by shouting "Mama, Police!" in the local language when he saw policemen outside the house.
One of the officers involved in the operation said that the bird may have been trained for this particular situation.
"As soon as the police arrived nearby, he started screaming," he said.
Despite the bird's efforts, the operation was successful and the police managed to gather evidence against the suspects, a man and a teenager. The video of the raid shows the police cataloging small bags of crack.
The parrot was seized Monday afternoon but kept its beak closed after being "arrested".
The parrot was given to a local zoo, where zookeepers trained him to fly before releasing it into the wild.
The incident is not the first time that a parrot is involved in a crime. In 2016, a man in Kuwait narrowly escaped prison after the family's parrot revealed his illicit affair with the housekeeper.

The researcher of the study, Claudio Mello, of Oregon Health & Science University, said that the brains of these birds had evolved in the same way as ours.
"Humans have had bigger brains, more brain cells and more cognitive traits," said Mello. "Parrots have a bigger brain than other birds and have more communication skills, and they have similar preserved elements that distinguish them."
