Close to the main Kumasi-Accra road in Akrantebesa, in Konongo, lies this large deep ravine which gradually enters the main road.
In addition, residents who live along this stretch of road have been instructed to evacuate to allow work to begin immediately.
Resident's concerns
Residents say road defects began to develop over five years since and has since spread almost half of the main road.
They suspect illegal mining activities to be responsible for dangerous ravines.

Some residential structures have already been demolished to facilitate repair work.
This means that residents must evacuate immediately, but some of them claim time, although they welcome efforts to avoid danger.

We do not know when the closure of the road will begin but detours are created to facilitate traffic on the road section during the repair work.
Some occupants of temporary structures located near the section of the road reserved for repair work also want their structures to remain in place as the work progresses.
"We will leave, but we can not build new structures. They should therefore allow our structures to stay upright so that we can be busy once the work is done, "said a businessman.

Authorities have since intervened to repair the road and other bridges at the junction of Odumase Zongo and areas between Odumase and Konongo.
Susan Akomeah, Executive Director of Asante Akyem Central, urged locals to relocate to pave the way for rebuilding broken bridges.
"If we do not repair this damage, it will be a disaster that will not happen locally but that will become a national disaster because it will be a major havoc.
"We do not wish any accidents in these areas, we will implore those who are along this area who have been marked by red crosses to move immediately because the work is about to begin," he said. declared.
The affected place was cordoned off by the contractor.
Ms. Akomeah stated that the contractor was ready to work. "So we should not hinder the process so that they can carry out the work and move on to the other two areas."
Compensation
Often, when construction of this nature begins, residents in the construction sector receive compensation.
But the regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah, said that no compensation would be paid for property found on these repair roads.
He cites the 2004 Executive Instrument (IE) 17: "Under Executive Instrument (IE) 17 of 2004, compensation was paid to all people affected at the time, from so that all the people who have reconstructed the demolished property and those who erect temporary structures rebuilding their temporary structures [will not be compensation again]. "
According to the laws of the country, compensation are unpaid twice for the same project, no compensation will be paid. Mr. Osei Mensah said that people who commit themselves to erecting a structure do so at their own risk.
"The project can not wait. we do not want no matter who the goods must be destroyed, so we want them to move, in particular, to hijacking areas ".
The consultant for the ABP Consult project and the Highbrains Company Limited construction company both carried out their final inspection of the damaged areas.
Although a specific date of completion of the project has not yet been given, officials believe that this will be done as soon as possible if the resident company and the funds are made available.
