Motorists on the BR-364 Brazilian highway had a major surprise during their trips on Monday.
Cars and trucks stopped abruptly when they came across a giant snake in the middle of the road near the city of Porto Velho, in the north-west of the country, according to a report by the Brazilian newspaper G1 Globo. And, rather than cautiously navigate around the anaconda and continue his journey, videos on social networks show that some drivers have come out of their vehicles to help the snake get in safety.

"We decided to stop the car and go out," said Italo Nascimento Fernandes, a pbaderby at The Dodo newspaper. "There is no sign that cars are waiting for her to cross.I've already seen snakes running on the highway, and I think this is a crime."

Several videos posted on Facebook follow the snake as he embarks on the dangerous journey across the busy road. While the reptile was sliding on several lanes, Fernandes and others teamed up to avoid oncoming traffic. The anaconda quickly escalated the central security fence and found itself safe on the other side of the street.
According to G1 Globo, the snake was over three meters (9.8 feet) long and weighed about 30 kilograms (66 pounds). The biologist Flavio Terbadani, quoted in the G1 Globo report, estimated that the anaconda was 10 years old and was probably looking for food or shelter when he ventured out. on the road.
While the anacondas like that of the videos above are not poisonous, Terbadani told G1 Globo that people should be careful before filming or approaching animals, which can attack when they are threatened. .
The anaconda is not the only snake to have made headlines recently. Earlier in April, an 18-foot-long python had been filmed on the roof of a Detroit home after escaping from a neighbor's home. In Florida, the Big Cypress National Reserve captured a python 17 feet long, weighing 140 pounds.
