Paul Heyman on the question of how he wrote his promos, how the appearance of Brock in MITB was kept secret and more

Paul Heyman was recently interviewed by Yahoo Sports. During the interview, he asked if his promos were scripted and how the appearance of Lesnar at the MITB was kept secret. Here are the highlights:

On how many of his promos are written:

I always know how I end [when I prepare and cut a promo]. I know what I mean – the grand arrival – how will I reach it and what is the turning point that brings me home.

In inspiring of his father:

In the creation of a promo, it's like when I grew up and went to see my father, a lawyer specializing in personal injury, to play in front of juries. That's where the name comes from, because my father was a defender. I watched my father go to trial and that's what I try to do in terms of promos, I try to do it.

On the brutally honest nature of his relationship with Lesnar:

The respect, admiration and honesty between Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are 100% authentic. We are great business partners, badociates, and friends of choice because we are fiercely honest with each other, without a punch or sensitivity, a flawless approach to business and friendship in which we can tell everything as long as he is sincere.

Feeling like he could not be so honest with anyone of Brock's stature:

This has always been the way between us since the first day we met. I can not imagine having this degree of transparency with anyone of Brock's stature and I do not know if he can trust that opening from anyone other than the one who is with him since the day he made his WWE television debut.

How they kept the MITB aspect of Lesnar:

It's never hard to create a surprise with Brock Lesnar, because we know how to keep the circle very tight. We did not get anything, either from anyone, or from a spoiler online or elsewhere, and once again we showed that Brock Lesnar knew how to make headlines better than anyone in the WWE, sports entertainment or mixed martial arts.
