Paul Ince launched a relentless attack on the poor forms of Manchester United duo Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.
Lingard, 26, and Martial, 23, participate in the Red Devils pre-season tour and started in United's 1-0 win over Inter Milan last Saturday.
But the two stars of United had a difficult season while the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League.
And United's ex-star, Ince, 51, was unscrupulous in his criticisms of Lingard, Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez.
"You have Marcus Rashford who scored 11 goals last year and gets a new contract," said former Blackpool boss at BBC Radio 5 Live.
"Jesse Lingard was devilish last year, he was really, really.
"Then there is Alexis Sanchez, they got nothing from Sanchez.
"So, as much as we talk about the defense, Chris Smalling and Harry Maguire, we must certainly ask ourselves who will be the best.
"We have to look at this because they are not great in attack.
"Martial? S is a soda." He pops in from time to time. "One moment he's awesome, one moment he's not."
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, 46, has already hinted that fans would see another side of Martial next season, claiming he had all the potential to become a "world clbad striker".
He continued, "I think if you followed Anthony as he came back in pre-season, his attitude is perfect.
"There have been a few cases where you can see a new Anthony in his way of working for the team.He always had the talent, the quality but his work pace improves.
"I think he's always got quality and talent, so I'm expecting him and Marcus to be even better than last season."
"Anthony had a great season when he came, I think we'll see a better Anthony next season."
Lingard has also been heavily criticized this summer for his antics on social media.
But Solskjaer admitted that he was hoping to see a lot more Lingard next season.
"Jesse knows what it's like to be a Manchester United player," he said.
"Sometimes he made one or two bad decisions, but he made more good decisions than bad ones.
