Paul Merson says Liverpool are not getting the credit they deserve for their title race this season.
The Reds’ season has been marred by injuries and they could be without a senior center-back for their game against West Ham on Sunday.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both absent long term, with Fabinho missing the midweek win over Spurs with a muscle injury and Joel Matip suffering ankle ligament injuries in the win .
Despite this, Jurgen Klopp’s side are not left out of the title race, with their 3-1 win over Spurs underscoring the quality the Reds can still boast.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson argued that no other Premier League side could be put in the position Liverpool find themselves in and continue to fight for the title.
He said, “I think they’re back. It’s a good team and they have too many good players.
“They’ve had 20 different partnerships at the back and they’re in the title race.
“No other team across the country would be able to do that, there’s no question.

“What he does, and I love what he does, when he has to face defenders like Henderson and Fabinho or Henderson and a young boy, he still has a chance in other teams.
“He always plays the top three, he doesn’t drop one to bring in another defender.
“Fair play for them, they don’t get the credit they deserve.
“With the injuries they had at the back, they are right in this title race.”
