PAUL POGBA arrived at the Manchester United training ground this morning before his pre-season flight for Australia, despite the fear that he will not join him.
The 26-year-old World Cup winner made it clear that he wanted to leave Old Trafford, but that the club had ordered him to move for their exhibition matches.
Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, works so hard to get him out of the country. United's chiefs feared that he would not show up today.
But early in the morning, the French mercurial arrived at the back of a Mercedes van with tinted windows.
The expectation of club leaders would have been tense this morning while stars such as Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and David De Gea would have arrived, waiting to see if Pogba would show up.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had given Pogba – whose team-mate, Romelu Lukaku, also absent – was also present – an extension of time after the international mission.
Pogba did not have to report last week to the rest of the United team – which was named in full for the tour and lacks big names.
He was instead seen working in a New York gym, which means that while he is en route to Australia, he will have crossed 12 time zones and traveled 12,500 miles in four days.
TRUE AMBITION
On Friday, Raiola got his hands dirty by publicly admitting that Pogba wants to go out – and he's working to make that happen.
It is suspected that Raiola's statement was scheduled to fuel doubts about whether Pog would go to Oz for the matches against Perth Glory and Leeds.
United is also playing in Singapore and China – where the former Juventus star is a well-known name – and has already enjoyed a promotional tour with adidas this summer.
Pogba admitted last month that "it could be a good time to take on a new challenge". Real Madrid is his favorite choice. The Spaniards would apparently only offer £ 90 million earlier this summer, well under £ 150 million.
At the moment, United is sticking to his £ 290,000 weekly contract and he still has two more years left – plus a 12-month club option.
Romelu Lukaku, a target of Inter Milan, is another star about to arrive in Carrington today.
Last week, the Belgian striker met with Solskjaer. He was told that he was no longer the first choice at Old Trafford.
Lukaku, 26, was offered to rivals Serie A, Juventus and Napoli.
