Paul Pogba explains exactly why Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United

Paul Pogba insisted that the player's power was not behind Jose Mourinho's dismissal by Manchester United.

Mourinho was sacked in December as the Red Devils finished in the top four in the Premier League after a disappointing start to the season.

An anemic demonstration during the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool was the last straw for club leaders, who immediately sacked the Portuguese and hired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The World Cup winner, Pogba, was left on the bench after the defeat at Anfield after his disappointing start to the season.

Mourinho and Pogba, when the former was still the boss of United

The Frenchman scrambled with Mourinho early in the season and was dismissed as vice-captain at Old Trafford.

However, Pogba was largely outstanding under Solskjaer, scoring eight goals in the Premier League under Norwegian – against just three goals in the first four months of the campaign.

The tension between the 26-year-old teammate, some of his teammates and Mourinho was largely considered one of the main reasons for United's struggles and the departure of Chelsea's former boss.

But Pogba has a much simpler decision to make.

"What were the problems? We did not win," said Pogba when he asked questions about the subject on an international mission.

"That's why they decided to change head coach.

"Results matter most.

"If we win, we would have good results and the coach would have stayed at his post. That's all."

Pogba is back in his native country

Pogba is with Les Bleus before his Euro 2020 qualifier against Moldova on Friday, and has linked himself to a number of Paris Saint-Germain knocked out by United in the Champions League.

And Pogba admits he enjoys teasing the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe.

"We talked a bit about it, we talk a lot about this game, but also about the games of the season.

"We talked about the match, the details, what happened next.

"We tease each other, but we do it with respect, they're disgusted, but we laugh."
