Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is eager to discuss the signing of a new deal at the club after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's relaunch of his Old Trafford career.

The Frenchman was almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season if Jose Mourinho stayed at the head of the Theater of Dreams.

Aged 25, he was desperately unhappy under Mourinho and insisted on a move to Barcelona last summer before Ed Woodward made it clear that he would not be sold.

However, the form of Pogba under Solskjaer has been sensational and he wants to repay the club's trust in him by signing a new contract, according to the Sun.

Pogba is two-and-a-half years old to execute his existing contract at the club and the Red Devils have the option to extend it by another 12 months.

However, the club is keen to retain its most valuable badet and Pogba can expect the increase in his current salary to bring him closer to Alexis Sanchez, the club's second-highest-paying player.

Pogba scored five goals and allowed five badists in six games under Solskjaer and enjoyed the freedom of the 45-year-old.

His form allowed United to return in the race to rank in the top four with the Red Devils just three points behind Chelsea, after losing 11 points when Mourinho was sacked.

Anthony Martial is also about to sign a new five-year contract, a further sign that Mourinho's departure has convinced many team members to rebadess their future.

The Frenchman has been out of contract for 18 months but United blocked his departure last summer after Mourinho said he was ready to let him go.
