Pay back all benefits paid to you since January 2009 – John Boadu accuses Lordina Mahama | Politics

The secretary general of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, instructed the wife of former President John Dramani Mahama, Ms Lordina Mahama, to repay any sums or allowances paid to her between January 2009 and June 2021.

In a one-on-one interview with Paa Kwesi Schandorf on TV Africa on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Mr. Boadu urged Ms. Lordina Mahama to replicate Ms. Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s gesture.

“Schandorf, let me say it forcefully. Former President Mahama’s wife Lordina Mahama urgently needs to repay all monies paid to her from January 2017 until now. Those she received in 2009 should also be reimbursed. The money she has received since that time so far would amount to GHC 3.2 million, ”said John Boadu.

The appeal to Lordina Mahama to reimburse the sums paid to her as allowances follows Ms. Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s decision to reimburse all the sums paid to her since 2017.

The Ghanaian media landscape has been inundated with criticism of the Ntiamoa Commission’s decision to regularize the allowances paid to first and second ladies, whether past, present or future.

An impression was created by part of the general public including the TUC, the NDC and some civil society organizations that only Ms. Rebecca Akuffo-Addo and Hajia Samira Bawumia are beneficiaries of these allowances transformed into salaries.

These misconceptions and vitriolic attacks led the First Lady to decline the Committee’s decision and indicate her decision to reimburse all the sums paid to her since January 2017.
