The People's Party of the Convention (CPP) condemned the activities of self-defense groups in the country and called on the police to take all possible measures to eliminate all these groups and put an end to their harmful activities.
"It will be incumbent upon the Ghanaian police to seek out all self-defense groups in the country and put an end to their harmful activities," said the CPP.

According to Professor Edmund Delle, president and national leader of the party, the CPP again calls for the Ghana Police Service to immediately ban all self-defense groups.
The party noted that no vigilante group was stronger and more powerful than the Ghana Police Service and expressed hope that the Ghana Police Service will overcome these challenges.
Failure to do so, the party said, would leave the PPC with no choice but to call the military to save the situation, insofar as the police would have failed in the country in terms of security and protection.

A lesson for the EC
The CPC also calls on the Electoral Commission (EC) to draw lessons from Ayawaso West Wuogon's by-election in order to put in place free, fair and transparent processes for the next general election in 2020.
"The peace and security of our beloved nation is based on how the EC will hold the next general election," the statement said.
The party also expressed its sympathy to those who, without any fault on their part, were brutalized by masked gunmen.
