The government said that it had officially opened a thorough investigation into the detected violations of the PDS contract and announced that the investigation would be completed within 30 days.
S addressing reporters in Accra, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the investigation team was composed of insurance survey experts , officials from the Ministries of Energy and Finance, as well as officials from the ECG and MIDA.
Nkrumah said the investigation would determine the nature of the violations and advise on the next steps suggested.

In a statement made by the government on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, the concession agreement between the Ghana government and the PDS was suspended as a result of breaches of the contract.
Mr. Nkrumah revealed that a second team had been tasked to continue his engagement with the US government through his agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
"This commitment relates to possible next steps after the survey and information sharing channels as part of this investigation. This team should also visit the United States, possibly next week, as part of their commitment, "he added.
The information minister said the latest efforts to ensure a smooth transition between ECG and PDS officials are proceeding smoothly.
He added that the violation had been discovered by the Ghanaian authorities with due diligence, through the ECG and with the support of state agencies.
Mr. Nkrumah badured that the government will inform all stakeholders of the results of the investigation and proceed in accordance with the law and under the terms of the agreement, in the perspective of the final resolution of the problem.
