Some Power Distribution Services (PDS) workers have been the target of bloody attacks by residents of Kokrobite. They reportedly worked to restore power to the area near Accra.
PDS has recently taken over the management of Ghana's electricity distribution from the Ghana Electricity Corporation (ECG). However, its workers have been involved in unfortunate incidents of intermittent and sudden power outages in some parts of the country.
DGN Online was informed that one of the staff members who had been injured during the Saturday cutlbad attack had been taken to the hospital.
Nana Damoah, communications consultant at the Ministry of Energy, spoke about the attacks on Facebook.
He wrote, "We advocate with all Ghanaians and all consumers of power to show a little more respect in their actions. Yesterday, as PDS / ECG staff was working to restore power to the people around Krokrobite, they were attacked and beaten. One of the men working at the recovery of electricity was wounded with a knife by a knife. It's very unfortunate. "
He said: "While different teams are working in the field to restore power in problem areas, we guarantee their safety so that they can meet our needs. It's essential for our own good. "
Power outages have recently occurred in some parts of the country.
PDS announced in a statement that the breakdowns were due to the construction of the current road in Pokuase and should be resolved in five days.
He rejected claims that the country was plunged into an electricity crisis, as it did three years ago.
