Pedestrians, especially children of Accra, risk being electrocuted, as a number of street lights in the capital have their sons exposed.
Most of these poles have their connecting wires which connect the power supply of the underground networks to the poles suspended outside the galvanized poles.
In April of this year, the Daily Graphic made an information visit to parts of the nation's capital and realized that many cables were hanging off the poles.
Looking closely, some of the sons, who were surrounded by Sellotape and others exposed, without a lid, remained unattended for months.

The cables exposed in broken junction boxes were blamed for the lack of maintenance and the persistent theft of copper cables and metal covers that hold the cables inside the tubes of street lamps.
There are approximately 40,000 streetlights, mainly made of wood and galvanized, under the jurisdiction of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
Among the areas visited were the Central Business District (CBD), Kaneshie, the Graphic Road, the Barnes Road which extends from the Congress of Trade Unions to the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Achimota, High Street and Liberation Road .
According to the experts, although the wires were sold on Sellotaped Scotch tape, they indicated that they were still a serious danger to pedestrians.

In Adabraka, a number of people, including schoolchildren, walk past dangerous street lights, often unaware of the risk of electric shocks if their bodies touch the hanging cables on the outside.
To find answers to the challenge, the Daily Graphic visited AMA where Eric Afful Baiden, badistant engineer in charge of work schedules, acknowledged the problem, which he said had persisted since 2017.
He accused the persistent theft of electrical cables and the destruction of the street lighting to have posed a major challenge to the efforts of the badembly to maintain street lighting in the capital.
"People are deliberately removing the metal cover of street lights to remove cables and steal metal covers, and replacing metal coatings and cables is expensive," he said.
