The first woman president of the US House of Representatives leads a congressional delegation to Ghana to conduct high-level discussions with President Akufo-Addo.
Nancy Pelosi will also talk with her Ghanaian counterpart, Mike Oquaye, and other senior government officials. She will also deliver a speech to the Ghanaian Parliament.
The team will then travel to US Army headquarters in Africa, Italy.
President Pelosi and her delegation will pay tribute to the castles of Cape Coast and Elmina and to the "Gate of No Return" to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first African slave landing in America.
"In the face of evolving global security challenges, our delegation will thank the men and women in uniform and will receive briefings from US military leaders at the US Army headquarters for Africa," said the President. Pelosi.
"In Ghana, our delegation looks forward to high-level discussions on key issues such as regional security, sustainable and inclusive development and the challenges of tomorrow, including the climate crisis," continued President Pelosi.
"It is a special honor to be the first Speaker of the US House to speak to the illustrious Parliament of Ghana as we build on the partnership between our nations."
The delegation includes the prominent majority bad, James Clyburn, the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Karen Bbad, the co-chair of MP Steering Committee and Democratic Policy, Barbara Lee, and the icon of Congress, John Lewis.

"As founding president of the International African American Museum, which is being built on the Gadsden Wharf in Charleston, South Carolina, where about 50% of enslaved Africans have arrived in this country, it is particularly important for me to to join the first woman President of the US House of Representatives and many of my African-American colleagues went to the door of no return, to Ghana, "said Whip Clyburn.
"I consider it to be an appropriate way to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the obligation made to slaves to leave their homeland to be slaved into the New World. I seek to pay tribute to the sacrifices of our African ancestors and to pay tribute to their contributions to the construction of the United States of America. "
