The minister made the remarks in Lagos on Friday, addressing former Nigeria Airways employees who organized a rally for the re-election of President Buhari.
"The Administration's commitment to the well-being of Nigerians has prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to put an end to the 14 years of waiting and suffering of Nigeria's 5,996 former staff members, who have begun receiving payment of their pension arrears and other benefits from the federal government.
"It should be noted that since the liquidation of Nigeria Airways, successive administrations have failed to settle the former staff members, resulting in untold suffering and loss of human dignity for those affected," he said. -he declares.
Alhaji Mohammed said that in addition to the former workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways, another group of former workers who benefited from the people-oriented policy of the Buhari Administration are the former police officers of the Biafran, former workers of the Aladja Delta Steel Company and former NITEL workers. whose years of suffering and neglect have come to an end.
He said that pro-poor government policies have benefited many Nigerians, citing the conditional cash transfer that benefited 300,000 families and the local school canteen system, under which 9.3 million School children are fed every day.
The minister also said that 500,000 graduates had been employed under the N-Power program, while about 1.2 million people were covered by the government program for business and empowerment and the TraderMoni.
Alhaji Mohammed, who thanked the former workers of Nigeria Airways for demonstrating their support for President Buhari, urged them to re-elect him on 16 February to allow the president to continue the good work he has begun.
"Your expression of appreciation and your support for the president could not have come at a better time, as we are only a few days away from the presidential elections. With your support and votes, the President will be re-elected for another four-year term to continue his good works for the Nigerian people, "he said.
In his statement, the president of the former workers of the late Nigeria Airways, Lukman Animashaun, said for 14 years that former workers were being molested, dehumanized and degraded until President Buhari, who had cleared their pension arrears. and other advantages.
Earlier, the former workers of Nigeria Airways had organized a procession from the Skypower catering center and were driving them on some of the main streets of Ikeja.
