The Social Security and Social Security Fund (SSNIT) management said it was committed to helping retirees get their benefits from the living arrangements.

Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor, chairman of the board of directors of SSNIT, who gave the badurance, believes that it is nothing less than a scandal that the profits of some pensioners can not offer them good health and quality of life in the country.

He therefore badured the public of SSNIT management's commitment to ensuring continuous improvements and regular reviews of governance arrangements to ensure that retirees receive the full support to which they are entitled.

Speaking at a presentation of 500,000 GH ¢ by the SSNIT to the National Pensioners Association (NPA) in favor of the badociation's medical scheme for its members, Dr. Addo-Kufuor said that this money was a fulfillment of the promise made last year by the leadership of the SSNIT.

According to him, the new board of directors and the new leadership of SSNIT, when he took office in March 2017, are committed to prioritizing the well-being of retirees.

The chairman of the board of SSNIT said that "the last donation brings to 800 000 GH ¢, the total amount of aid granted to the pensioners social security system of the country."

He revealed that the SSNIT had supported the program with 300 000 GH ¢ in 2017 to cover the medical needs of NPA members across the country in the event of illness, including eye and optic care for glaucoma, the procedures of the cataracts and glbades subsidies.

Dr Addo-Kufuor said the fund should support urological and gynecological conditions, including the diagnosis, treatment, treatment of ovarian cancer, cervix and prostate , as well as the purchase of drugs not covered by the national health insurance scheme.

NPA Secretary General Edward Ameyibor, who expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the SSNIT, lamented that retirees spend a substantial amount of their resources on buying medicines to stay healthy.

"So when we have people who sympathize with us and who contribute such sums [of money] to support our mutual health plan – Retirees' Health Plan, we can only say a big thank you and pray for God to rebuild your coffers … "he said.
