Former President John Dramani Mahama urged the Ghanaian people to give equal opportunities to people with disabilities instead of sympathy.

Speaking at the launch of CEM Ability Village, a charitable project focused on empowering people with disabilities to enable them to live more worthily in society, former President Mahama said that people with disabilities wanted to have a place in society their quota for national development.

He praised the software engineer Farida Bedwei, who proved that, if the opportunity arose, disabled people could even do better than many without disabilities.

Former President Mahama joined today Reverend Steve Mensah and his charismatic evangelical ministry to launch the Charity Project.

Mahama said Ghana has many pieces of legislation to protect and improve the lives of people with disabilities, but their application has not been effective.

Since then, he has promised to focus his attention as President of the National Democratic Congress and President of Ghana in 2021 when he took office in 2020.

CEM Ability Village, a 2,000-acre proposal, would be a community specifically designed for people with disabilities in Ningo, Greater Accra, where they would enjoy equal and equal rights and participate actively in nation-building.
