Petr Cech believes that the flawless competitiveness of the Premier League is the reason for England's dominance in Europe this season as his Arsenal team prepares to face Napoli in the Europa League quarter-finals next month .
Arsenal have become the sixth out of six English teams to reach the last eight of their respective European competitions after a thrilling 3-0 win over Rennes on Thursday night.
Unai Emery's victory and Chelsea's victory over Dynamo Kyiv added to the four wins won by English teams in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
"If you can see the quality of football every weekend and midweek [in the Premier League]it's becoming more and more competitive, "said Cech, who is expected to retire at the end of the season. "Sometimes having to play every game for 90 minutes takes away energy for the European matches but against Rennes that was not the case.
"In the case of PSG [who were defeated by Manchester United], their problem is that they do not have enough big games during the year. Their team and their quality are so different from other players in their league that they are not tested week after week.
"They do not have enough big matches and then in the Champions League, when you arrive at the moment when you are under pressure, they are not used to it."
