On Thursday night it was revealed that Petronas will end its support for SRT in the MotoGP World Championship at the end of the current season, just three years after the team began their premier league career.
Support will also end for the Petronas Sprinta Moto2 and Moto3 teams, with both teams to be shut down by SRT at the end of the year to save the MotoGP project.
On Saturday morning, Petronas confirmed the Autosport information in a press release.
Sepang Circuit CEO Azhan Shafriman said, “SIC would like to thank Petronas for their continued support during the partnership and the remarkable journey together.
“We have respected Pertonas’ decision and have mutually agreed that this partnership has achieved its purpose and objectives.
“We have enjoyed a meaningful partnership, with great accomplishments and memorable moments with the team.
“I think this is not the end of our motorsport collaboration as we continue our quest to nurture motorsport talent in Malaysia.
“SIC is proud to have been involved in the training and early development of the team which exceeded expectations in their performance.
“We wish the team all the best in the next phase of its evolution under a new entity.”

SRT will confirm its plans for the 2022 season during the British Grand Prix weekend, where in 2018 it formalized its MotoGP plans for its first season.
Autosport understands that SRT will continue with Yamaha beyond 2021, but the agreement between the two parties has been changed.
Instead of receiving factory-supported machines, SRT will receive two “B-spec” bikes for 2022.
Current SRT rider Franco Morbidelli is expected to join the Yamaha factory team alongside Fabio Quartararo in 2022 to replace the outgoing Maverick Vinales.
Valentino Rossi having retired from MotoGP at the end of the year, SRT needs two replacements but struggled to find the names he wanted.
Top pick Raul Fernandez has been locked in a two-year contract with KTM to join Tech3, while Rossi’s protégé Marco Bezzecchi now looks set to join the VR46 Ducati squad next season.
