In one update on the mumps epidemic Temple University and other areas of Philadelphia, Temple Student Health Services report 16 Temple students were tested positive for mumps and 70 have been listed as probable since February 28th.
Twice next week, Temple Student and Employee Health Services (SHS) will be offering walk-in clinics where the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine will be available for free. No appointment is necessary. On presentation of a current OWL card, all students, faculty and temple staff are eligible for the MMR vaccine.
The clinics, offered jointly with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), will be held at The large courtyard of Mitten Hall sure Wednesday, March 27 and Friday, March 29 of
09:00 to 16:00
In addition, local media reported new cases at Drexel University and Abington High School.
Drexel Vice President Subir Sahu e-mailed students acknowledging that an off-campus graduate student apparently had mumps. It is not clear if the case has been confirmed.
The Drexel Student Health Center on Friday released information on mumps for the community, but did not discuss a case in a student.
In addition, suspected cases have been reported at Montgomery County's Abington High School, the report said.
