Philippe Coutinho puts Chelsea and Man United on alert with comments on his future in Barcelona

The name of Philippe Coutinho was mentioned a few times during the transfer of January.

The Brazilian is now in Barcelona for more than a year after his transfer from Liverpool 13 months ago to £ 142 million, but it was reported that the giants of La Liga were already looking to make it profitable.

Chelsea and Manchester United were among those involved in an offensive midfield move last month.

Moving to Old Trafford would not only be a shock, but would also anger the majority of Reds supporters, due to the stormy and historic rivalry between the two clubs.

Moving to Stamford Bridge would probably not have done too well either.

However, the window was closed at 11pm last night and Coutinho was still a Barcelona player and he can hope for the rest of the season, which could bring national and European success.

That said, speculation about his future could easily restart before the summer transfer slot.

The 26-year-old scored the Copa del Rey by beating Sevilla on Wednesday night and was asked about his future at Camp Nou.

And his answer was rather interesting.

Philippe Coutinho in action for Barcelona

"Nobody knows what will happen in the future," he told beIN Sports.

"All I have in my head now, is working hard."

It remains to be seen whether Coutinho will open the door for a return to the Premier League, but his signature will be of great interest if it were made available by Barcelona for a summer transfer.

In 29 appearances in all competitions, the former star of Liverpool scored nine goals and five badists while the Barca continued the treble.
