Philippe Coutinho refused to make a long-term commitment to Barcelona after helping him qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The Brazilian midfielder has struggled to justify his huge prize since signing Liverpool last January.
However, he was on the scoresheet as the La Liga leaders beat Lyon 5-1 to reach the last eight games of the European Elite Club competition.
Coutinho has been linked to a move to Manchester United and admits that he does not know what the future will bring him.
He said, "In the last few weeks or months I have not played well, but I still want to improve.
"I came to Barcelona to do my best, I live for the moment, you never know what the future holds, I'm happy with my performance today."
Liverpool could miss millions if Barcelona landed the Samba Boy in the summer.
The Reds are expected to earn 4.4 million pounds each time Coutinho plays in 25 Liga matches up to 100.
It will probably cost them at least 8.8 million pounds if he leaves Nou camp quickly.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi scored two goals and scored two more as Barcelona qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
He said: "Wait for the draw, all the remaining teams are hard, we have to wait calmly to see who we are going to play and prepare for the hardest thing to come now."
Three weeks after the two teams clashed in a goalless draw in France, Messi opened the scoring with a penalty in the 17th minute in Panenka's style. Coutinho raised the score to 2-0 just after half an hour of play.
Lucas Tousart scored a goal for Lyon in the 58th minute, before Messi added his second in the 78th, then Gerard Pique and his replacement Ousmane Dembele.
