Two female pbadengers were allegedly raped by armed robbers under threat of gun in Kolgine, in the north of the country.
Several other people who also traveled aboard a metropolitan public transport network linking Tamale to Tatale, in the Tatale Sangule district, were deprived of their money and other valuables.
The bus driver and another pbadenger, seriously injured, were taken to Yendi Hospital.
The bus driver and a pbadenger who spoke to Martina Bugri of Joy News said the two pbadengers were raped during the robbery that occurred Saturday night around 22 hours.
The driver stated that it had taken more than two hours for the police to respond to pbadengers' distress calls after the incident.
He added that armed thieves had taken valuables from them, bumping into thousands of cedis.
According to him, the four burglars blocked the road with huge logs and, apart from their weapons, they carried machetes.
A pbadenger, Abdulai Amin, a Tamale car dealership, said that an amount of 24,000 ¢ and his mobile phone had been taken away by armed robbers.
