US Ambbadador Stephanie Sullivan hosted an Iftar dinner at her residence for President of the National Council of Muslim Leaders of Ghana, Abdul Qadir Tahir, who represented the Chief Imam.
Also present were the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Alhaji Mohammed Bin Salih; The Anglican Archbishop of Accra, Diocese Leaders of the Faith and Reverend Daniel Silvanus Mensah Torto.
Ambbadador Sullivan welcomed Abdul Qadir Tahir, who represented the Chief Imam, at her home.
There were also former government officials; representatives of various boards, academic institutions, women's badociations, former exchange program participants in the United States, and prominent community leaders and mentors.
Iftar is part of the long tradition of the American Embbady.

In her address, the ambbadador congratulated the Imam National Chief for being a strong advocate for dialogue and peace, as evidenced by his recent attendance at Easter services in a local Catholic church.

Also earlier in the day, representatives of the US embbady visited two local schools. An important aspect of Islam, especially at this time of year, is zakat – or charitable giving.

In support of the common goal of promoting children's health and education, the US Embbady donated foods including rice, oil and canned tomatoes to elementary school students in Al -Za-Ki-ya and Gbawe.

The US Embbady in Ghana works closely with religious and Muslim clergy to fight corruption, protect children, and so on.
