Piatek again in goals as Milan narrows the gap on Inter

MILAN (Reuters) – AC Milan continued its impressive run as goals in the second half allowed them to win 3-0 over Empoli in Serie A on Friday.

Gennaro Gattuso's fourth team is undefeated since their last eight league games and the last victory has moved them one point behind Inter Milan, third.

Polish striker Krysztof Piatek, who made an explosive start to the game at the club, gave Milan the advantage at San Siro with his seventh goal in five matches since arriving at the Genoa club in January.

Piatek, who was too isolated in the first half, reacted well four minutes after the interval to slide the ball home after a pbad from the Rossoneri.

Two minutes later, Franck Kessie doubled ahead for Milan with a skillful chip after a fine pbad in depth from Spanish winger Samu Castillejo.

The lively Castillejo added the third goal, meeting a low center of Andrea Conti with a side sidecut finish.

It could have been four for Milan when Fabio Borini scored the ball to net, but the effort was denied for offside following a VAR exam.

Juventus, leader of Serie A, will travel to Bologna on Sunday while Napoli, in second place, will travel to Parma.

Inter hopes to regain its four-point advantage over Milan when it will play at Fiorentina on Sunday.
