Bitcoin Blender, the leading cryptographic mixing service, has voluntarily shut down, making it the second Bitcoin mixer to shut down in less than two weeks.
Users have been alerted to the closure on Monday when a message appears on the home page of the platform's website asking customers to withdraw their funds.
Caught off guard
Although the message appeared on the Bitcoin Mixer's Tor website and on its clearnet alternative site, many users were not aware of the impending shutdown of the service.
Bitcoin Blender has also announced its closure on the BitcoinTalk forum, but it appears that many users have not been able to withdraw their funds on time.
A customer posted: "I always had funds in Blender account! I was on vacation and I saw everything at the moment! please, help me!
The service returned online for a short time on May 30, stating on BitcoinTalk that it was "cleaning the servers, but putting it online now, it will be activated for a few hours".
At the moment, it seems that users who still had cryptocurrency on the service no longer have any chance.
Choose to turn it off
In operation since 2014, Bitcoin Blender was considered one of the main mixing services.
It offered users a way to preserve the anonymity of their cryptocurrency property by mixing it with other people's crypto or by converting funds into another form of cryptocurrency.
On its website, the service states that it is a "hidden service of Tor that uses smart technology to erase the history of your Bitcoins and make your transactions completely anonymous."
The platform had websites on both Tor and clearnet, but the actual mix servers were located on the Tor site, while the clearnet version only provided information.
No official reason has been given to justify the decision of the Bitcoin mixer to leave him. the site had been running successfully for five years and was earning a commission of 1% to 3% for their tipping work.
However, law enforcement has recently adopted a bleak view of cryptocurrency mixers, viewing them as a money laundering tool for criminals.

It was just last week that Europol, the Dutch Tax Information and Investigation Service (FIOD), and the Luxembourg law enforcement forces combined their efforts to bring an end to at Bestmixer.io, one of the world's three most important cryptocurrency blending services (or "tumblers"). .
The seizure of six servers belonging to Bestmixer.io took place after a long investigation of one year.
Investigators claim that the service was mixing Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) on behalf of criminal groups to mask the illicit origin of the funds.
