Abdul Razak, a suspect who broke into a prison in Kumasi Central Prisons in the Ashanti region, revealed that he had been helped by two policemen and two prison officers.

The suspect revealed him during a dramatic hearing on Tuesday after being arrested again in the Northern Region on November 2, 2018.

The suspect told the court presided over by Judge Francis Obiri.

"I did not disappear from prison. Two police officers, Sergeant Kofi Fofie and Agbenu Mathias, along with two prison officers badisted me; Ofori and Asamoah around 3 am that day, "the suspect revealed.

The police and prison officials had claimed after the jailbreak that the detainee had miraculously disappeared from the prison as there was no sign of rupture in the prison.

Judge Francis Obiri, after listening to the suspect's revelation, ordered the Kumasi police and prison authorities to introduce the police officers who allegedly helped the suspect's escape.

The suspect, who is one of five people accused of robbery and who was in Kumasi Central Prison, escaped on November 2, 2018, with no sign of exit to his room.

According to prison officials, they woke up on a Saturday morning to realize that Razak had escaped from prison without any help or signs of break-up in his detention room.

"He did not leave the prison because it is impossible that anyone escaped given the security measures taken in the site reserved for men. It has disappeared and it is the major mystery for all of us, "said a senior officer who pleaded under strict anonymity after the incident.
