Several people were injured after bloody clashes between residents of the Dagomba Line and the SWAT police team in Aboabo-Magema, in the municipality of Asokore Mampong, in the Ashanti region.

Several properties, including 4 houses, were destroyed during the clash that began early Tuesday morning.

Seven people wounded with machetes were transported to the Manhyia government hospital for treatment.

The incident began when a landowner in the area obtained a court order to demolish structures that serve as squatters' residences.

However, some wounded squatters faced the ejection exercise with fierce resistance, set fire to buildings and attacked the police with stones, sticks and other offensive weapons.

Antwi Boasiako, of Kingdom FM, said the police, under fire, had withdrawn to be reinforced.

Ishmael Abdul Rahman, son of the landowners, told our reporter that the police team was present this morning only to guarantee the execution of the court order, which has unfortunately been prevented.
