The police command of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa arrested a 19-year-old mother who allegedly killed her three-year-old son after drowning in a bucket of water in Bremen Brakwa on Sunday morning.
Phyllis Arthur, popularly known in Breman Brakwa Township as Esi Agyanwa, is believed to have committed this crime because of poverty.
Emmanuel Baah, Superintendent of Police, District Commander Bremen Asikuma, confirmed the case and told the GNA that the police had information about the murder and had gone to the scene for commit the horrible act.
He added that the unemployed girl had also been detained by the boy's father. During her interrogation, she told the police that she was having trouble taking care of the boy whose body had been dropped off at Asikuma Hospital in Bremen.
Agyanwa is in custody while the investigation continues.
